Many of you have probably seen me mention this towel on my Instagram but after completing their #3HAB challenge, i figured it was time for an update!

You've probably all heard of hair-specific towels that promise to dry your hair faster, i for one have had several over the years but until i tried Aquis, i guess i'd never truly noticed any difference between hair towels and regular towels besides their weight.

After my first time throwing my hair up in the Aquis towel straight out the shower, i noticed that the roots of my hair were just as dry as the ends when i let my hair down. Generally i've found other hair towels might dry the ends faster but they never really got to the roots of my hair and that area remained very damp. Each time i used it i really noticed that my hair was just a little damp throughout and was very evenly dried.

Another wonderful thing i've noticed after using the Aquis towel is that its MUCH easier for me to achieve volume. I just round brush the top few pieces (see which hair tools i use here) and the offshoot from the hairdryer has dried the rest in the process. Again, this isn't something i've experienced with other hair towels and the fact that i have the hair of a baby usually means any volume i can achieve is gone very quickly.
This makes it easier to achieve, last longer and for some reason i've found i'm able to go 1 day longer between washes (my theory is the added volume means my hair can't get slicked to my scalp so easily).

Now i've covered the functionality of it, can we take a moment to appreciate that its not hideous? I've had hair towels before that just do not look nice hanging on your towel rail where as these are beautifully simple and sleek. The packaging also comes with an orange loop through it which is.... a hair tie! Genius.

Like i said, i do have the hair of a baby so those of you with lusciously thick locks are probably wondering if it would work for you. While the towel i use is aimed at "normal" hair, they also have a Waffle Luxe towel especially for those of you with thicker hair since its increased surface area provides even more moisture-wicking absorption!

Now i've totally fallen in love with the product i plan on picking up their fancy spa-esque headband and a couple of their Waffle Luxe body towels which look perfect for the beach or drying off after a hot tub!

I love that i can wrap my wet hair up in this straight out of the shower, grab some breakfast and do my makeup and by the time i take my hair down, i just need about 5-10 min with a round brush and i'm good to go and have volume that lasts... I think you'll love it too.

I've tried the hair oil a few times now and used it both in the lengths of my hair as well as my scalp and really love it for both. The scent is very woodsy and botanical but its growing on me more and more.

So far i've especially liked using it as an over night treatment when i'm washing my hair the following morning. I run 4-6 drops through the lengths and concentrate on the ends and then whatever is left on my hands i massage into areas of my scalp where the hair is finer.

Although it is suitable for all hair types, if you have very fine hair that needs nourishment without weight, i think you'd especially enjoy this!

A lot of my beauty obsessions stem from Tashina and this is definitely another one i'm going to blame on her.

The Drybar is a chain of blow-out bars found around the US who also sell their hot tools, products and other goodies at Sephora. You might recognize their distinct yellow tools!

Buttercup Blow Dryer

I love this blow dryer because its light-weight, quiet and has heat settings that don't boil your head.
My previous blow dryer was definitely heavier and i could never use the hottest setting because it was scaldingly hot; whereas the Buttercup Blow Dryer has a range of settings you can actually use.

It has 3 temperature settings and 2 speed settings along with a button for a cold blast to finish off your 'do. It comes with 2 nozzles, the wider one i use for the bulk of my hair and the narrower one for my bangs so i can be more precise.

Since this blow dryer was designed for professional use it also comes with replacement air filters that are easy to change and a 9' long cord!

I love everything about this blow dryer and am always impressed with how fast it can dry my hair without feeling like a hurricane force wind and my arm never gets tired during a blow out because its so light!

The 3-Day Bender 1" Curling Iron

Prior to owning this curling iron, i had irons in every shape and size but now i only use this one and can get a variety of finishes with it.

To look at, it appears to be a fairly typical curling iron but it definitely has its little perks. The clamp doesn't leave kinks in your hair or get hair caught in it and the clamp itself is what rotates so you don't have to twist the entire iron, you just rotate it with your thumb. Having a hard time visualizing it after my poor explanation? They do a much better job of explaining in the video here.

I also love using it to wrap my hair around for a more beachy look (see my video on it here) and because of the thin clamp, you don't get any kinks when using this method.

Full Pint Round Brush

This is the product of theirs i've had the longest and i love how consistently nice my blow-outs turn out when i use this. Theres nothing to catch my pathetic, fine hair on and the size is perfect for my hair length.

Its perfect to add volume and lift at the root as well as smoothing out the ends of my hair for a soft, straight look.

Hold Me Hair Clips

I'd seen this style of clip before and my hairdresser pal had said they're awesome because they can hold a little or a LOT of hair because of the fancy design. So after collecting a couple of yellow Drybar goodies, i figured why not give these a try too.

I use these to section off hair to blow dry or style it as well as just clipping it all up out of the way when i need to think.... does anyone else have to put their hair up when they need to get focused?

Lemon Drop Daily Detangler

What makes one hairbrush better than another? I'm not entirely sure, but this hairbrush is pretty damn awesome.
I've even used this on wet hair when i want to brush product through whereas previously i always tried to avoid brushing my hair wet. Its suitable for extensions or other hairpieces and really just makes easy work of it.

As someone with fine hair, any hairbrush that can brush out snarls without causing breakage is pretty much a winner in my eyes!

Since none of these are cheap by any means, i always think reviews on them are even more important so if you have any of these, please do leave your thoughts on them below so everyone can get a good idea of how they work on different hair types.

At long last, heres my fishtail braid tutorial featuring a little hair help from AB Hair!

What you'll need:

Clip in hair extensions unless you're naturally blessed
A comb
Dry shampoo
A hair elastic

Thoughts on the hair:

The hair arrived super fast and well packaged.
The plastic sleeve it comes in is great to store it in and both ends opening means you can feed it through without it becoming tangled.
For how light in color the hair is, its really nice quality and doesn't feel dry or artificially coated.
The ends being slightly tapered in thickness makes for easy blending with my own hair.
Soft-plastic lined clips meant the hair held really well in my hair without any hairspray for added grip.
Overall, awesome hair quality and easy experience with their customer service.

Its been a while since i did any type of hair tutorial so i figured i'd start off with the hair i wear most often.

Tips:

Never rub your hair with a towel, only ever squeeze excess water out.
Tie your hair up when you go to bed, this is especially important for those with fine hair that will quickly get tangled.
Coconut oil makes a great intense conditioning treatment for bleached hair. I leave it on for hours at a time and my hair is so smooth once i've shampooed it out.
Get regular trims, not only will this help split ends but the fuller your ends are, the healthier and more thick your hair will appear.
Always use a heat protectant spray.
Don't shampoo your hair too often, i like to use dry shampoo or a non-lathering cleansing conditioner to avoid drying out my hair between "proper" washes.
ALWAYS straighten hair with a comb to help prevent frazzled, crunchy ends.
If you suffer from dry, flakey patches.. try mixing a little coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree and use it as a scalp treatment.

Caring for your extensions:

Always check the company's recommendations for styling and extension care.
Try and keep heat styling and hair product to a minimum and store extensions on a clippy hanger to preserve the style.
Use a very gentle shampoo and conditioner, squeeze excess water out in a towel and hang to dry.
Take extensions to a professional to dye as some extensions have a sealant that affects how dye takes.

Styling your extensions:

I install my extensions then style once they're in, this helps your hair and the extension hair blend flawlessly.
Hold the curl/straightener over the ends of your hair for a little longer than the rest to further blend your hair and the extensions.
If your hair still doesn't blend, mist hairspray over the ends of your hair and comb into the extensions.

Clip ins vs other methods:

As far as i've found, clip ins produce the least amount of damage and look natural for longer.

Black wide tooth vega comb $5.95 (X) - Perfect for combing through wet hair.
Metal clips- you can find these anywhere, i use them to hold my hair back when doing my makeup, the gap in the top holds hair back without squashing it and causing kinks.
White sectioning comb from multipack $4.99 (X) - I use this to section and comb hair through while straightening.
Black head band (came in a birchbox) $11.00/3 pack (X) - Great for getting you hair out of the way when working out or adventuring outside, can also be twisted around to use as a hair tie. Also looks chic in styled hair you just don't want in your face.
Black scrunchie $6 (X) - Perfect to throw hair up without causing kinks in your hair, especially in bed or throw one in your purse/car.
White clip- you can find these anywhere, i use it to section off hair when styling it or just clipping it up out of the way.
Black Cyndibands $10 (X) - These ribbon hair ties are perfect to hold your hair back securely without causing damage. These particular ones don't roll up as easily as others and stay flatter.
Tangle Teezer $10- $20 (X) - This brush is easy to grip, glides through hair and minimizes breakage. Also perfect for extension wearers cause it doesn't pull on bonds or microlinks.
Large round brush $15 (X) - This brush is great for medium to long hair and adds volume and wave easily. Cuts down on drying time and helps smooth and shiny hair.

Picking your color:

Check the company's color charts to match your hair but ask a hairdresser for help if you're in any doubt. A lot of companies will also help you pick a color if you send them a photo of your hair.

Picking your length:

If you have short hair, i'd advise going for the shortest length they offer so theres no mullet effect. Longer hair can handle longer extensions.

Remi vs Euro:

Remi hair is the best quality hair as its processed keeping all the roots at one end, meaning the hair cuticles all face one direction and don't tangle. Euro/Indian etc just refers to where its from. Indian hair can be a little more processed just because typically Indian hair is very dark.

What are clip ins?:

Hair weft is cut to size then has silicone lined clips either sewn or glued onto the top of the weft. That clip then slides into the root of your hair and is a great temporary method of extensions with minimal damage.

Installation:

Section a layer of hair at the base of your head, clip the rest of your hair out of the way then tease the roots of the layer you have down. Spray a little hairspray if you feel you need it, this will help the extensions clip into particularly slippy hair.

Then slide the extension clips into the teased area close to your head and snap them shut.
Repeat this process going up your head and onto the sides.

Make sure you have enough of your hair down around your crown so that it hides the extensions and looks blended and natural.

Cutting your extensions:

DO NOT do this if you are doubting your hair cutting abilities- go to your hairdresser and they will cut them for you.
I cut mine around my face just to blend with my hair in the front. Angling the scissors down i just start cutting at the ends of my hair.

A lot of you ask me about where i get my clip in extensions from and most of them are too old for me to remember, but these bad boys i can share with you!

Rapunzelrapunzel.co.uk approached me to see if they could send me some of their clip in extensions to try, which came at the perfect time because i had been looking into getting some longer ones to match my newly blonder hair.

Packaging & arrival-

My hair arrived within a few days in a precisely hair extension shaped box from the UK.
The hair is rolled up safely and attached to a card backing.
The box has basic care instructions on it.

Hair quality-

I received remi hair which is processed keeping the strands running root-to-tip like your own hair, meaning the hair cuticles face the same direction, reducing tangling and matting.
The hair felt soft and thick but beautifully thinned out on the ends, creating a more natural look.
My hair was the lightest blonde (#60) yet felt in perfect condition.
The hair looked healthy and shiny but didn't have that overly processed sheen to it like some do.
Each weft is laid once in each piece meaning they weren't bulky at the root but still provided a believably thick extension.

Installation-

The clips on the extensions are silicone lined, providing good grip and a cushion for your hair to be held in.
There are 6 pieces: 2X 1 clip pieces, 2X 2 clip pieces, 1X 3 clip piece and 1X 4 clip piece.
Each piece is cut to a good size so it was easy to fit on my head. Some extension pieces are cut very wide which would cause issues for all the little heads out there (not mine).
Once installed the hair blended in with mine so well, you couldn't tell i was wearing them.

Wear-

I wore the extensions for a full day, had no tangling and was able to easily run my fingers through to keep them in good shape.
The clips held well and i had no slipping, even after brushing and styling them.
Overly thick extensions can sometimes pull on the hair too much and create soreness but these are the perfect mix of thick yet light to wear.
When i removed them i just brushed them through to store them and had no tangles at all.

Styling/care-

The extensions took a curl/wave well but i did have to use fairly small pieces because the hair is so thick.
There was no apparent damage from curling them (i've had extensions before that started to look crispy after the FIRST heat style).
I didn't need any hairspray at all because they held the wave beautifully.
I did trim the 2X 2 clip pieces of extensions to frame my face and they were very easy to work with.
When i removed them i just brushed them through and hung them on a clippy hanger. The waves remained the next time i wore them.
The company do suggest keeping heat styling to a minimum, not using serums or oils and washing them just with warm water.

Overall-

These extensions are beautiful quality for the price (around $80 depending on exchange rate) and provide a natural looking full head of hair.

They're best suited for people who want their extensions to look like naturally long, healthy hair and not like thick, bluntly cut extensions.

After wearing them a handful of times now i'm really impressed with how they don't tangle and i had no matting in the back of neck like i have before. They lay beautifully and remain looking like natural hair.

Always and forever, their eye balm is my life blood. This cured my seborrheic dermatitis and continues to keep the skin around my eye area smooth and hydrated. I also use whatevers left on my finger on my lips after!

2. Vitamin B Active Moisture Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover.
The most effective, gentle and nourishing makeup remover/cleanser there is. Yep.

3. Family Size Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser.

I use this daily, whether its in the shower as my body wash or on my face as a face cleanser, i've even used it to wash my hair, hair extensions and makeup brushes. Its super gentle and not drying at all but also very effective and removes all makeup/ dirt.

4. Vitamin D Active Moisture Time Release Mist.

I love a good face spritz and this is my favorite by far. Not only does it feel really refreshing but it definitely is more moisturizing than some mists i've used. The spray is awesome and mists your whole face lightly and the scent is like a light, tropical cocktail.

5. Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder.

This is one of their new summer releases and i am LOVING it! I'm pretty lazy so dry shampoo is a must for me and this adorable little tub does just the trick!
