Its no secret that i love skincare, and due to my skin type (combo/a bit of everything) and job, i'm able to switch it up regularly so let me tell you whats tickling my fancy right now.

First thing:
As soon as i wake up i like to give my face a clean and put my contacts in. These two leave me feeling fresh and nourished instantly.
-Pacifica Cactus Water
-Leahlani Morning Elixir

After dog walk/breakfast/yoga/shower:
Once i've completed all my various morning tasks, its time to hop in the shower where i use a mild exfoliating cleanser followed by a simple toner, moisturiser and of course an SPF, leaving my skin ready for makeup or to go bare-skinned.
-Derma E Glycolic Cleanser
-Derma E Toner
-Osea Atmosphere Protect Cream

Night time:
When i'm ready to take my makeup off, i start with a makeup eraser to remove as much as possible then follow up with a gentle cleanser and exfoliator to remove any oil or debris thats fallen into my pores. I follow it up with the same toner i used in the AM and usually a mix of two oils!
-Makeup Eraser
-One Love Organics Easy Does It Cleanser
-One Love Organics Brand New Day Scrub
-Derma E Toner
-Uma Deeply Clarifying Oil and/or Leahlani Evening Elixir

Treatments:
This has been my favorite mask combo for a while now as i find it draws out yuckiness but isn't at all irritating or drying to my skin.
-Leahlani Kokoleka Mask mixed with a little water and a few drops of Uma's Clarifying Oil

Whats your skin care regimen like currently? Are you a soap and water person or a 15 step facial person?
As promised/warned... here's more on great skincare to de-clog pores. This time i'm showing you incredible items from my loves at Pacifica.

As i mentioned before, a great exfoliator is so important if you're a daily SPF wearer as it can really clog your pores. I've found this duo (once a week, lets say) combined with a sauna (steaming over a bowl or even after a hot shower/bath would work too) really helps to clear out all the gunk.

I start by removing my makeup either with an oil cleanser or face wipe then hop in the (dry) sauna to open my pores for a bit. Then i apply a thin layer of the Pore Refine Mask which is a clear gel (smells like strawberries and gently dries on the skin to draw out nasties and tighten), then hop back in the (still dry) sauna for about 15 minutes.

I step out and rinse the mask off and get back in the sauna and steam steam steam to really open up your face and encourage any residual yuck to pop out. After about 20 minutes of this i get back out, scrub my face with their Glow Baby Scrub, finish with an icy cold splash and some Dreamy Youth Face Cream e voila... tighter, unclogged pores are all yours!

You definitely don't have to add in the sauna like i did but it can be really beneficial to your skin and amp up your skincare.

One great thing about having combo skin is that at some point you're probably going to try skincare for every different skin type trying to find what works. In doing this, i found a new love in the Derma E Vitamin A Glycolic Cleanser!

Since i have mixed concerns when it comes to my skin; something for anti-aging, oily skin and exfoliating is right up my alley. The glycolic acid, marine plant extracts and papaya work to chemically (vs physically via scrubs/beads) exfoliate the skin and improve cell turnover, unclogging pores and revealing fresh skin in the process.

I love using this in the evenings in the shower once i've removed makeup to ensure theres nothing left lurking in my pores, this seems especially effective when coupled with the Foreo Mini for the ultimate gentle exfoliation and cleansing!

The scent is similar to medicated face washes but much lighter and very fresh and i've had no irritation at all with this. I tend to get redness around my nose if exfoliators are too harsh so thats a relief!

After loving this so much, i'll definitely be looking into what else is in this range and already have my eye on the treatment oil.

A good exfoliator and cleanser are especially important in the summer months if you're using SPF as they can clog your pores and cause breakouts so expect lots more pore-purging reviews this season.

To enter the sunscreen giveaway all you need to do is be following both myself (@WIFELIFE) and Tadu Defense (@TADUDEFENSE) on IG and repost the giveaway graphic on IG tagging us both and using the hashtag #WIFELIFETADU, 2 winners will be picked and your sunscreen will be on your doorstep waiting for you. (giveaways are currently US only, i'll figure out some international ones soon)

Tattoos are a huge investment and one way to preserve your artwork (& youthful good looks) is to ALWAYS protect your skin from the sun, so when Tadu Defense contacted me to send me their product specifically aimed at tattoo sun protection- i jumped at the chance.

(Tadu also sent me 2 other tubes to give away so check my IG for giveaway info)

What it claims:

  • Designed for Daily Use
  • Specifically Formulated for Tattoos
  • SPF 35+ UVA/UVB Protection
  • Ultra-Light Absorbing
  • Non-Greasy
  • Vegan Friendly

Packaging- 5/5

  • Sleek matte black tube with clear panels showing the light blue product inside
  • Snap lid is really strong so i wouldn't worry about beach bag explosions
  • Squeezy tube for easy dispensing and no mess

Product application- 5/5

  • Thin consistency makes it easy to rub in without missing areas
  • Easily absorbed and rubs in clear
  • Kept my skin feeling lightly moisturized even though i tend to get quite dry on my body
  • No real scent which most will appreciate although i'm a sucker for a yummy scented lotion
  • No greasy, sticky residue
  • Definitely a unisex product and i think anyone who likes a light lotion would love this regardless of the SPF
  • Also felt light enough on my face that i didn't fear breakouts popping up immediately

(just left my skin with a light sheen but no residue)

Overall-

I was really pleasantly surprised by this after trying countless sun screens in the past that left my skin feeling sticky and my pores blocked.
I've seen lots of products boasting they're "not like other sun screens" but always end up leaving my skin feeling gross where as this just feels like my skin is super hydrated, no residue at all.

I'll be interested to try this more when we actually have more sun to check its SPF-related abilities but other than that i really think this is pretty awesome.

Considering a similarly sized chemical sunscreen from a drug store is around $10, i'd happily spend $16.99 for one that didn't give me bacne and is gentle enough for face and bod.

I gave this such a high rating because it really just does exactly what it says it does; truly a light fragrance free SPF with natural skincare properties.

I've been having a bit of a love affair lately with a crazy expensive product which i managed to justify buying by my mother's guidelines that if you wear it daily (glasses, for example), then its okay to splash out. It being vegan and cruelty free also helped (full list of vegan Chantecaille products here).

I've been unhappy with most facial sunscreens i've tried that have a high SPF either because you can't layer makeup over them because it just slips and slides all over or because of insane flashback in photographs. Thanks to this discovery both of those things are now a thing of the past.

The Chantecaille Ultra Sun Protection Sunscreen boasts a broad spectrum SPF of 50! At first this gave me visions of looking like a slimy ghost on the beach as a kid because my mum would make us wear factor 10,000 but after trying it i soon got over that.

The consistency is very runny so bear that in mind if you're going to try it or you could end up with all 40ml in your hand. It definitely has the color and consistency of a primer and leaves your skin texture pretty flawless and ready for foundation but don't use too much or you made need to pat away any excess with a tissue before adding makeup.

It has a very slight SPF smell to it but only if you're really smelling for it and after a few minutes you can't smell a thing.

Such a high SPF might seem silly to some but sun protection is so important in warding off the aging process and the obvious risk of skin cancer, which can be significantly reduced with a little common sense and a good SPF.

Definitely a pricey product but for a special treat or perhaps a bday request, i'd definitely recommend it.

Here are the Chantecaille products i'm dying to try!
I already have a few of their vegan skin care items and i'm just waiting to hear back from them with a comprehensive list.
