While i'm here treating my (possibly delayed..) jet-lagged skin with my favorite clarifying oil from Uma, they'd like to give 3 lucky winners their Ultimate Brightening Kit to get you in the mood for a bright Springtime.

For me, Spring involves some melting of snow but Uma have assured me flowers are budding in India at the UMA Oils’ meadow! It takes over 1,000 rose petals to make ONE drop of rose oil, which is a staple in UMA’s Ultimate Brightening line.

If you're yearning for bright, glowing, and dewy skin, enter the Uma Brighten Up Skin Care Giveaway (running now thru March 1st) to win a brightening skin care routine fit for royalty. Enter your email to potentially be one of the 3 lucky winners to receive a $130 Ultimate Brightening Kit.

Uma oils are some of the most luxurious, effective oils i've tried as many of you know from me fawning over them before so i'm really excited to share this giveaway so we can fawn together!

All you need to do is fill out the form below (try here if you have problems with it loading) and on March 2nd, 3 winners will be chosen at random by Uma to receive their gift! Good luck!

Since trying out Paula's Choice Salicylic Acid and Retinol products, i've quickly become reliant on them for happy, clear skin. Lots of you even noticed the changes in my skin and asked questions on my Paula's Choice recommendations so here are my top 5 picks from their site!

I do have a link you can use for $10 off your first order so click via this link to set that up and don't forget to sign into/ up for ebates because they have 4% cash back on PC right now.

CLEAR Extra Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid
This is the salicylic product i started experimenting with (i talk about it here) and and let me tell you, this stuff is pretty potent so use it sparingly and only where you need it until you figure out your skin's tolerance or you may end up getting dry and flaky.

The liquid itself has some slip to it which i'd imagine is the "anti-redness" portion of the product in action because it does feel like a protective serum finish, almost.

I used this on a cotton pad over my t zone where i have enlarged or blocked pores as well as a spot treatment on any volcanoes brewing under the surface! Salicylic acid or "BHA" is especially good for this as its oil soluble so can penetrate oil-filled pores, allowing it to reach deeper than AHAs, for example. Read more on the differences here.

SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant

Since my skin is much improved after using the above product, i switched to something a little more gentle and this product has been perfect to gently exfoliate my skin and keep pores clearer without any irritation.

I use this daily all over my face and just use one pump on finger tips over clean skin in the morning, giving it a chance to sink in a little before continuing with any serums or moisturizers.

RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum
The first retinol product i tried was the Retinol Booster which i mixed with a hyaluronic serum; although i liked this combo and did see it's effects, i'm glad i tried this because its AMAZING.

This serum feels so silky and great on the skin without feeling suffocating and i do feel i've noticed more of a change in my skin using this vs the booster/serum combo.

Fine lines seem even shallower and the overall texture of my skin feels smoother and plumper.

I do think the combination of using BHA in the morning and Retinol at night has made my skin more capable of purging any zits of blocked pores as it dries them up quicker and heals them quicker too. The combination has worked wonders for me.

RADIANCE Renewal Mask
This is something i picked up on a whim and have fallen quickly in love with. This overnight mask seems to have improved my skin's hydration, faded any marks left from blemishes and just overall leaves me with clearer, softer skin in the mornings.

I probably use this 2-3 times a week or more often during travel stress as the last step in my night time routine. This would be awesome on long haul flights as its clear and you can reap the benefits of a mask without... looking like you're wearing a mask!

Hello Gorgeous Dual Magnifying Mirror
Lastly, the most recent thing i picked up from Paula's Choice is this chic compact mirror for travel! I don't know about you guys but i really struggle with doing my full face of makeup in the tiny mirrors that come in compact products so wanted something a little bigger but still travel friendly.
Beware of the magnifying side, the 10X magnification can be a little scary!

Some Paula's Choice products are available as samples and they do have an entire travel size section here too.
If ever you're unsure if products are vegan, you can check their list of non-vegan items here and their customer service is always super helpful if you go to them with ingredient questions or just general queries too.

What are your favorite Paula's Choice products?

Petit Vour are my favorite vegan beauty box and introduce me to so many new companies i've not heard of before. Lets see what was in this past month's box...

Juice Beauty Green Apple SPF 15 Moisturizer - $38
When i first applied this, it struck me how thick it seemed when rubbing it into the skin so i assumed it wouldn't be a good fit for my oily/combination skin. Within a minute it had completely sunk into my skin and left the nicest matte base that was hydrated and plumped at the same time.

I'm going to keep this for use when we're hiking or times when i don't want to apply makeup because it gives such a nice matte finish by itself that i felt pretty confident in my skin even without makeup.

EVOLVh Smart Volume Leave In Conditioner - $27
Typically i don't have great results with similar products and find they either give no (noticeable) results or make my fine hair very heavy and dirty-feeling. Again, i was pleasantly surprised.

I applied it to damp hair, combed it through with my fingers then wrapped my hair up in my Aquis towel. While blow drying i noticed my hair had some thickness and texture without being weighed down; i guess thats where the "SmartVolume" comes in? I also noticed my hair retained its volume and style after sleeping on it too which is usually an area of frustration for me.

I'll definitely be using this tester up over the next few weeks and potentially ordering the full size!

Suntegrity Lip CPR SPF30 - $28 (top to bottom shades are sunburst pink & sunny blush)
The two little samplers of lip product are something i'd usually overlook but i'm so glad i swatched these for you guys because i actually fell in love with the product.

SPF lip products have a reputation for leaving a strange cast on the lips, even tinted ones. These are the most hydrating, plumping lip colors i've tried and the fact it has SPF in is just an amazing bonus.

The ingredients definitely give you a lasting feeling of lip health even after its eventually worn off, i loved these so much i ended up ordering the shade "sunrise peach" in the full size!

Precious Skin Elixirs Exfoliating Clay - $70
The first thing i noticed about this was the gorgeous packaging (if you appreciate the packaging on the mini, check out the full size- g'damn) so i had high hopes for it because thats just how my brain works.

I tried this a few times and each time just didn't feel like it did much, i'm not sure if i didn't mix it with the right powder to water ratio or if its just not suited to my skin but i really didn't notice much of a difference.

Perhaps if you had very sensitive skin and aren't used to more "aggressive" exfoliators, this might be great but it just didn't do it for me. I'll definitely use it up and see if my opinion changes.

Overall another great box from Petit Vour that helped me discover some products i wasn't aware of.
Be sure to check out their store (i may have spent way too much there last night- let me know if you'd like a haul) and consider their beauty box if you're new to vegan beauty or just want to discover some new gems.
As promised/warned... here's more on great skincare to de-clog pores. This time i'm showing you incredible items from my loves at Pacifica.

As i mentioned before, a great exfoliator is so important if you're a daily SPF wearer as it can really clog your pores. I've found this duo (once a week, lets say) combined with a sauna (steaming over a bowl or even after a hot shower/bath would work too) really helps to clear out all the gunk.

I start by removing my makeup either with an oil cleanser or face wipe then hop in the (dry) sauna to open my pores for a bit. Then i apply a thin layer of the Pore Refine Mask which is a clear gel (smells like strawberries and gently dries on the skin to draw out nasties and tighten), then hop back in the (still dry) sauna for about 15 minutes.

I step out and rinse the mask off and get back in the sauna and steam steam steam to really open up your face and encourage any residual yuck to pop out. After about 20 minutes of this i get back out, scrub my face with their Glow Baby Scrub, finish with an icy cold splash and some Dreamy Youth Face Cream e voila... tighter, unclogged pores are all yours!

You definitely don't have to add in the sauna like i did but it can be really beneficial to your skin and amp up your skincare.

One great thing about having combo skin is that at some point you're probably going to try skincare for every different skin type trying to find what works. In doing this, i found a new love in the Derma E Vitamin A Glycolic Cleanser!

Since i have mixed concerns when it comes to my skin; something for anti-aging, oily skin and exfoliating is right up my alley. The glycolic acid, marine plant extracts and papaya work to chemically (vs physically via scrubs/beads) exfoliate the skin and improve cell turnover, unclogging pores and revealing fresh skin in the process.

I love using this in the evenings in the shower once i've removed makeup to ensure theres nothing left lurking in my pores, this seems especially effective when coupled with the Foreo Mini for the ultimate gentle exfoliation and cleansing!

The scent is similar to medicated face washes but much lighter and very fresh and i've had no irritation at all with this. I tend to get redness around my nose if exfoliators are too harsh so thats a relief!

After loving this so much, i'll definitely be looking into what else is in this range and already have my eye on the treatment oil.

A good exfoliator and cleanser are especially important in the summer months if you're using SPF as they can clog your pores and cause breakouts so expect lots more pore-purging reviews this season.

I've mentioned Uma's luxurious ayurvedic vegan wellness and facial oils mannnny times but i figured i'd tell you all about my favorite oil's uses!

Uma's Deeply Clarifying face oil helps to treat blemishes while still being gentle!

All over
During times of breakouts, especially around my period, I use this all over my face every night and find it both treats and prevents future breakouts so I rarely get those period zits if I'm consistent.

I use a toner or face mist and apply it while my skin is still wet. Then when I wake up in the morning my skin feels clear and moisturized.

Spot treatment
If I have a particular cluster of zits or one really persistent one, I'll use tiny drop of this on a clean finger tip and apply it to the area a few times throughout the day if I remember, otherwise at least morning and night. Its the perfect combination of zit-fighting and skin protecting!

Pre treatment/ oil cleanse

The last way I like to use this is to remove my makeup normally then use a dropper full of this as an oil cleanse and take time to massage it in before removing it with a hot wash cloth. I've noticed this makes it easier to do any extractions needed too and seems to prevent the area getting irritated.

These are just some of the reasons why i adore Uma oils and really believe in the company. Let me know if you'd like to see more on Uma!

You can find this oil here.

Although i do like to make my own face wipes, i haven't found a very travel friendly way of bringing them with me so i still try store-bought ones from time to time. These Glacial Cleansing Cloths might be the closest thing to washing your face that the face wipe world has to offer.

Somehow the folks at Skyn Iceland have created a face wipe that foams, doesn't need to be rinsed and doesn't dry your skin out. I'm not sure how they managed that, but i like it!

The light foaming helps to remove so much more makeup with no irritation or redness after and my skin doesn't feel immediately parched. Its one of the freshest feelings i've had from a facewipe.

Theres "slip" to them so they easily remove eye makeup with minimal rubbing and no residue, but they do also offer eye makeup wipes in the same range.

All in all a great cleansing cloth for times when you really wish you could properly wash your face or for anyone who usually gets mild irritation from face wipes!

I also reviewed their sheet masks here.

Lots of you recommended i try the Pacifica Cactus Water and since i love vegan and cruelty free skin care, you know i had to give it a go!

Cleansing Tonic - $12

Micellar waters have been growing in popularity for a while now and are the perfect lazy approach to makeup removal... personally i think its a slightly less lazy option than face wipes and i feel pretty fancy using them.

Needless to say i was pretty excited to give it a go and couldn't wait to try it with my Marley's Monsters reusable rounds and clean up my face!

It made really easy work of my face makeup and i noticed even the large pores around my nose appeared really clean. I moved onto my eye makeup and was pleasantly surprised to find it easily removed mascara, stubborn liner and lash glue and didn't irritate my eyes at all. At times i get some mild irritation around my eyes when using micellar waters or face wipes but this has just the right about of slip that theres no extra friction to irritate the eyes.

Its also perfect to clean up any makeup mistakes, just put a drop on a pointy q tip or angled brush and you can clean up liner really easily.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to graduate from face wipes and move onto the next step in laziness. I'm hoping i can get my hands on a travel size because it'd be perfect to refresh your face on the plane too!

I have to admit, i've been jealous of other bloggers eye or face masks for a while now since i've never found a vegan option, that is until Skyn Iceland popped up on Logical Harmony's brand list and made my puffy eyed dreams come true!

I saw their display in Ulta and grabbed two items to try, one was their Face Lift in a Bag and the other was a travel pack of their Eye Gels to throw in my travel bag.

Inside the Face Lift in a Bag are 2x forehead patches, 2x pairs of smile line patches and 2x pairs of eye patches. The forehead and smile line patches are designed to attack any fine lines with a boost of peptides and hydration while the under eye patches help to firm, de-puff and cool the area.

While i'm not one to rave that products have reversed aging since i don't have a microscope to be assessing my skin under, i certainly found the eye patches to help de-puff and cool the area without irritating my eyes. The skin appeared firm and my makeup went on very smoothly.

I have no doubt the forehead and smile line patches helped hydrate the areas but i don't think i have enough of an issue already to truly notice those differences.

Again, i can't really say the products gave me the effects of a face lift but i will certainly treat myself to the Face Lift in a Bag set once in a while and probably the eye patches more frequently since i saw more of a visual change!

I think any of these would be awesome for anyone who needs a boost of hydration or firming, wants to prep skin for a big event (i think this would be a fun gift for a bride) or even if you just need a little pampering self care time.

I know a lot of you struggle with anxiety or depression and find self care tough so here are some reminders. I hope you'll join in and leave your favorite self care rituals and tips below too!

Self Care Basics:
  • Get out of bed & make the bed.
  • Shower & wash your hair.
  • Make something to eat and drink water.

The other 5:
  • Apply your favorite face mask or take time to pamper your body, even if its just slathering lotion on your body.
  • Make a nice cup of tea.
  • Take a bath and enjoy it. If you don’t have a bath, hop in the shower & treat your bod.
  • Do some yoga. If you’re not into yoga, just have a stretch or wiggle or even meditate.
  • Write it down. Either in a planner that helps guide you or just writing down whats on your mind. Get it out of your head.

Stuff i mentioned:

Don't forget to leave your favorites below or anything that helps make things a little less glum on your off-days.
