3 Juices

Friday, May 16, 2014

Whenever i mention juicing online i always then get questions asking for favorite juice recipes. I usually fail to respond with anything helpful because i just throw in whatever i have and hope it tastes good, but finally i actually took note of what i used so here are 3 from this week to share with you.

Sweet Green

I like to add a little tang and sweetness when i use a lot of greens.
The kale is packed with goodies such as iron, vitamin k, antioxidants and many more while the citrus and the ginger i added to help shift this cold/sinus thing.
  • 2 Oranges
  • 2 Apples
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Lime
  • A couple of handfuls of grapes
  • 3 Celery stalks
  • Around half a bunch of kale
  • A good sized knob of ginger

Betalain Blast

This was a really large serving so halve it if you're not sure you can drink that much purple. The beets are packed with betalains, an unusual class of antioxidants great for the circulatory system and helps detox the liver. Just watch out for purple you-know-whats the next morning.
  • 3 Beets
  • 6 Celery stalks
  • 2 Oranges
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Lime
  • 3-4 Carrots or a couple of handfuls of baby ones

Orange Cold Kicker

I went for a simple, bright orange juice to further kick this cold's butt. The carotenes in carrots pretty much help any health ailment or concern you could imagine including skin problems, anemia, eyesight, immune system, cholesterol and many more. While the oranges are packed with vitamin C and the ginger helps relieve GI problems and works as a potent anti-inflammatory.

  • 3 Oranges
  • 1 Lemon
  • 3 Carrots or a few handfuls of babies (this was all i had left)
  • A good knob of ginger

    1. If you're not juicing you can add good stuff like bananas, avocados, chia, flax etc :)
