Battle of the lip oils/balms (review)

Thursday, March 27, 2014

A good lip balm is an important part of any beauty arsenal, whether its a minimal makeup wearer or a drag queen; well nourished lips are a must.

I thought about scoring each product out of 5 but truly i didn't think it fair so i'm giving them each their own title.

OCC Primer/ Clear Lip Tar- $18 @ Sephora

  • Vegan & cruelty free
  • Easily absorbed
  • Creates a perfect base for lip tars and other lip colors
  • Light oil texture
  • No residue

Hourglass No 28 Lip Oil Treatment- $42 @ Sephora

  • Beautiful packaging
  • Medium-thick oil texture
  • Cruelty free
  • Great used as an every day balm/oil
  • Mix with lip colors for a sheer effect
  • Long lasting moisture

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask- $26 @ Sephora

  • Perfect for extreme cold weather
  • Doesn't need to be reapplied
  • Thick balm texture
  • Super long lasting
  • Smells and tastes like heaven
  • Transforms severely chapped lips
I had previously thought this was marked as cruelty free on Sephora but can now find no information on it, as soon as i hear back from them i will post their response but i'm gonna be so bummed if i was wrong.

Josie Maran Argan Luscious Lips- $16 @ Sephora

  • Temporarily soothed my lips
  • Needed to be reapplied often
  • Decent price
  • Cruelty free and vegan
I really wish i liked this more, i wonder if its just not thick enough for our bitter cold winters. I'll try it again in summer because i love her products.
