OTP: Breakout Solutions

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

For this week's product OTP, allow me to introduce you to the only product i use for breakouts or irritation and neither of which contain any weird chemicals!

Most of you will know that tea tree is pretty much the wonder oil when it comes to break outs, minor infections and even head lice, but it has many more uses you might not have thought of; including yeast infection treatment and even time-kill studies on MRSA (obviously read up on both of those before trying it!!!).

Since tea tree oil does have astringent, drying properties, it can be a little too strong for people with sensitive skin. Here is where the rose hips oil comes in!

To me, rose hips oil is a little like coconut oil and pretty much helps anything skin-related. Its light texture makes for a great moisturizer that won't clog pores, plus it even helps clear up breakouts and heal any scars left behind.

You can use these two together or separately but both have incredible healing properties for pretty much any skin issue.

A little tea tree story to leave you with: A few years ago while traveling with Adam i started to develop strange rash on my hands and feet and then mouth ulcers. After doing a little googling i figured out it was Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease (apparently common in American kids?) and since i always travel with tea tree i decided i'd put a few drops in water and gargle it.

I did this repeatedly over the next two days and although it didn't taste great, the ulcers were completely gone by the third day. The rashes remained so i decided i'd try using it on them too and yep, you guessed it, they cleared up within 2 days.
