Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette Review & Demo

Wednesday, March 04, 2015

Too Faced recently released their vegan cocoa contour palette and i couldn't wait to try it!

After a few uses i can say that i'm really happy with 3 out of 4 of the shades. Here are a few more of my thoughts on it.

  • All colours blend beautifully and would work on most skin tones that are lighter than the 2 contour/bronze shades.
  • Light cocoa is a beautiful highlighter for those who don't like glitter. Can be used to brighten eyes or on high points of the face. I'd avoid using it around enlarged pores to avoid drawing attention to them.
  • "Pop of light" was the only color i wasn't keen on but applied with a finger i think you can pin-point where you want it better.
  • "Medium cocoa" and "dark cocoa" are amazing contour/bronze shades that blend to a natural finish and don't go muddy.
  • The colors wore well with the rest of my base makeup and didn't disappear through out the day.
  • Great for a neutral, every day eye makeup too.
  • The brush that comes with it is surprisingly good and makes it great for travel!

Here are some comparison photos with the Anastasia Contour Kit.

1) TF Light Cocoa VS ABH Vanilla
2) TF Medium Cocoa VS ABH Fawn

 3) TF Dark cocoa VS ABH Havana
4) TF Pop Of Light VS ABH Sand

And with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer.

Even though i'm not keen on the "pop of light" shade, i still think the palette is worth it for me and i'll get a lot of use from it.

What are your thoughts on the palette?

  1. The palette looks lovely and I'm a huge fan of the milk chocolate soliel bronzer so I will definitely check it out when it is released in Australia. Hopefully the price isn't too inflated. I really liked how natural this looked on you. Could the 'pop of light' colour be used to highlight the inner eye or under the brow bone?

    1. I forget how insanely expensive makeup is in Australia! That sucks,

You could use it like that but i just didn't find it stuck well where i put it... i'll keep playing with it though!

  2. Hahaha yep. Cost of living is pricey but minimum wage is also a bit higher which helps.
I'm coming to the States later this year so might just have to pick up some of my wish list items then.
Can't wait to see what looks you can create with this.

    1. It depends entirely on your needs.
If you want multiple contour/bronze shades and multiple highlights... go for ABH.
If you are only realistically going to use 2 or 3 colors on the daily.. go for Too Faced.

      Both are great formulas.

  4. This looks very user friendly,I like the idea of contouring but was apprehensive about some of the contour kits, but this one seems to have good shades for fair skin and simpler to use,it's a bit pricey for it here in Australia but will still try to buy it if the stores still have them left.
